Empowering Educators, Bringing Dreams to Life

The Melissa Education Foundation offers two forms of grants to help Melissa ISD educators achieve their goals:

  1. Star Mini-Grant - minor assistance in their program or curriculum, up to $250.
  2. Star Teaching Grant - individual educators, departments, or campuses may also apply for up to $5,000 to enhance their curriculum or program.

  • Complete the required grant application. You may also request the grant application from your campus office or the Melissa Education Foundation office.
  • Grant applicants are strongly encouraged to speak with their department and campus leadership to ensure that their grant proposal aligns with the school district's goals and objectives. Teacher or campus initiated applications must be signed by the campus principal, the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and the Executive Director of Academic Leadership. If the grant involves a technical component, it must also be reviewed and signed off on by the Director of Technology.
  • Signed and completed grant applications should be turned in to Kellie Maynard, Executive Director of the Melissa Education Foundation, at least 60 days prior to the event, conference, or program launch that requires the grant.
  • The grant application will be reviewed by select members of the district/campus leadership, the Foundation Director, and other reviewers as determined by the MEF Board of Directors. Applicants will be notified of the funding decision within 30 days of the application deadline.

Grant applications are accepted throughout the year, but will only be reviewed during the following months: October, December, February, and April. Any grant funds received must be utilized within the school year that they are awarded for.
