THANK YOU to all who came out and supported our Give them Wings Gala and Casino night…..it was a huge success, netting almost $32k, all of the money raised goes directly to teacher and student scholarships. Our 1st Annual Give Them Wings Softball Tournament was a HIT, we raised almost $5000 between the tournament, BBQ sales and concessions. On behalf of the Melissa Education Foundation Board of Directors we want to thank all our supporters and teams that helped us raise monies for student scholarships and teaching grants. We would like to congratulate the winnning teams:
1st place goes to bHIP global, 2nd place went to Sooner Legends and 3rd place was Old Skool

HISTORY
In 2008 the Melissa Education Foundation’s Board of Directors met to discuss the possibility of creating an annual event to raise money and awareness of the foundation. And from that meeting, “GIVE THEM WINGS” Casino Night was born. A committee was formed to create an event that would be so enjoyable that attendees would ask, “When is the next one, I’ll be back!” Expectations for the first annual event were simple:
1.Have a great time
2. Raise some money
3. Make sure everyone gets their money’s worth.
Needless to say, the “GIVE THEM WINGS” event was a huge success with the final tally at $35,000! Of course, credit to the success of an event does not rest solely on the hard work of the board, the funding raising committee, the volunteers, (ten MISD teachers volunteered their Saturday night, to help where needed, to make sure everything ran smoothly) or to the attendees.
Generous support by individuals and businesses through donations, auction items, raffle baskets and sponsorships was greatly needed; the MEF was not disappointed.
